On February 17, the series “Fraunhofer CCPE compact” started with the topic “New possibilities for PLA – focus on special properties under circular conditions”. The bioplastic PLA (polylactic acid) is produced based on renewable raw materials, is biodegradable and compostable. In their short presentations, two experts presented the special properties of PLA, such as thermally resistant fibers or the influence of additives on lifetime. This was followed by a discussion on the topic “How does PLA become circular?”. This round was opened with two keynote presentations on recycling and assessment.
