Recyclates in primary material quality - Status and perspectives of advanced recycling
Recycled plastics could already be used to a much greater extent. However, this requires more high-quality recyclates on the market. And these do not only come from material recycling. This is exactly the topic that the next Fraunhofer CCPE compact will address on May 4, 2023, under the motto "Recyclates in Primary Material Quality - Status and Perspectives of Advanced Recycling".
Despite many efforts, the circular economy gap is worsening: while in the global circular economy the secondary material ratio was 8.6 percent in 2020, it has dropped to 7.2 percent in 2023. However, the global economy is increasingly dependent on new and growing material flows . The use of recyclates plays an important role in this process. This is not new, but there is a lack of acceptance in the industry; after all, a product made from virgin material cannot easily be converted to recyclate. But how far has advanced recycling come in the meantime? What prospects are developing so that recyclates can be produced in primary material quality in the future? This is precisely the topic of the online event Fraunhofer CCPE compact on May 4, 2023 - as always concise and to the point.
Under the guidance of Fraunhofer CCPE Head Prof. Dr.-Ing. Manfred Renner, Advanced Recycling will be examined and general conditions and potential markets will be presented by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Matthias Franke, Director Institute Branch Sulzbach-Rosenberg of the Fraunhofer Institute for Environmental, Safety and Energy Technology UMSICHT. Dr. Andreas Mäurer, Head of Department Process Development Polymer Recycling at the Fraunhofer Institute for Process Engineering and Packaging IVV, will then present the development and technology potentials and thus provide an insight into possible options for action for companies. Helmut Schmitz from Der Grüne Punkt - Duales System Deutschland GmbH will provide an entrepreneurial - and European - perspective on the topic.

The Fraunhofer Cluster of Excellence Circular Plastics Economy CCPE has been hosting the "Fraunhofer CCPE compact" series since spring 2021. The aim of the online format is to discuss new technologies, materials and processes for a circular plastics economy with experts and stakeholders and to highlight applications.
